How We Buy Your Broken Phones

How we buy your broken phones

At The Big Phone Store we happily buy your old electronics so that we can refurbish them and sell them on so that they get a second, third or even fourth life.

How We Price Your Old Phones: A Fun and Clear Breakdown

When it comes to buying your old phones, we like to keep things simple, fair, and (most importantly) transparent. Here’s how it works at The Big Phone Store:

Our Criteria:

We inspect every phone, inside and out, and place it into one of three categories:

  • Brand New: Pristine, untouched, and still smelling like that fresh tech out of the box.
  • Good: A few scuffs, but it’s still got plenty of life left in it.
  • Poor: It’s seen better days, but we still see the potential!

For phones in these categories, we offer a flat rate—and you get the full amount if your device fits the bill. You can check out all the details of what we look for here.

What About Broken Phones?

Ah, the tricky part—broken phones. Since we can’t predict all the issues that might come with a cracked screen or water damage, we offer an “up to” price. Here’s the scoop on how that works:

Explaining ‘Up to’ Pricing

When you sell us a broken phone, the price can vary based on what we find inside. Why? Well, fixing a cracked back cover is a lot cheaper than replacing an entire LCD screen, for instance. So, we need to evaluate each device before we settle on a price.

Phone parts

Here’s what we consider for broken phones:

  • Before Repairs: Costs like marketing, postage, and labour to get the phone into our hands.
  • During Repairs: Cost of parts, more labour (because fixing phones isn’t a speedy process), and additional fees like payment gateways and marketing.

Since some phones may have one fault and others ten, we adjust the price based on how much work we need to put into fixing it. And just so you know, we buy 95% of the broken phones brought to us!

What We Can’t Buy (Unfortunately)

There are some phones we can’t take off your hands, such as:

  • Previously repaired phones: If someone else has tried and failed, we won’t risk more potential damage.
  • Extensive liquid damage: If your phone took a dive into the bath, it’s probably beyond saving. (Tip: Don’t turn it on if it’s soaked!)
  • BER devices: This stands for “Beyond Economical Repair,” meaning it would cost more to fix than we could ever sell it for.

But wait! Even if your phone is BER, we may still consider it for parts depending on the model.
