1. Protect the Screen
A screen protector is a must. It can save your phone from scratches and cracks. Pair it with a sturdy case to help absorb shock if you accidentally drop it.
2. Look After the Battery
Avoid letting the battery drop to 0% too often. Try to keep it between 20% and 80% for longer battery life. Use battery-saving features when you’re running low, and always charge with a certified charger. This helps prevent damage from power surges or overheating.
3. Avoid Overheating
Heat can harm your phone’s battery and internal parts. Don’t leave your phone in the sun, on a radiator, or in a hot car. Also, try not to use heavy apps while charging, as this can raise the temperature quickly.
Most phones will now display a warning if your phone is getting too hot (see right). In this case, unplug your phone and leave it on a table untouched until it cools down- do NOT put it in your fridge or freezer!
4. Keep Software Updated
Regular software updates fix bugs and improve performance. They also keep your phone safe from viruses and hackers. Turn on automatic updates if you can, so you don’t miss anything important.
5. Clean It Often
Phones pick up a lot of dirt and germs. Use a soft microfibre cloth to clean the screen and body gently. Avoid using water or cleaning sprays directly on the phone.
6. Handle with Care
Phones might seem tough, but they’re full of tiny parts that can break easily. Always handle your phone gently. Be especially careful around water and avoid putting pressure on the screen. Phones are durable, not indestructible!
Bonus Tip: Clear out unused apps and files every few months. It frees up storage and helps your phone run faster.
