Overview:
ToggleIf you’ve ever wandered through Wolverhampton and spotted a brightly coloured wolf statue staring back at you, you were likely caught up in the city’s biggest-ever public art event: Wolves in Wolves. This bold, creative project transformed Wolverhampton into a giant open-air gallery with over 30 unique wolf sculptures scattered across the city. But what started as a fun trail of art quickly became something more: a celebration of community, creativity, and care for the planet.
And now, the story continues at The Big Phone Store, where you can meet one of the most vibrant wolves of them all: Zeus.
A Howling Good History: Wolves in Wolves
Launched by the City of Wolverhampton Council, the Wolves in Wolves art trail aimed to bring people together, showcase local talent, and attract visitors to the city.
Inspired by similar projects in other cities, Wolverhampton’s version went big—and it worked. Over 50,000 people joined the trail, following maps, snapping selfies, and discovering hidden corners of the city through the eyes of these howling artworks.
Each wolf had its own story, brought to life by local artists, schools, and community groups. And to top it all off, after 11 weeks on display, the wolves were auctioned off for charity, raising over £35,000 for fantastic local causes like the Alzheimer’s Society, Central Youth Theatre, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Meet Zeus: The Champion of Sports, Spirit, and Sustainability

Now let’s talk about Zeus, one of the standout wolves—and the proud resident of The Big Phone Store in Wolverhampton!
Designed by the students of Highfields School, Zeus is more than just a sculpture. He’s a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and local pride. His body is bursting with bright colours and symbols that represent everything from swimming and gymnastics to football and rounders.
You’ll spot the WV Active logo, the Olympic rings, and even the Highfields school crest, making Zeus a walking (well, standing!) tribute to everything the students love about their school and community.
The bottom half of Zeus is covered in bold, blue waves inspired by Wolverhampton’s WV Active Central swimming pool—reflecting movement, health, and togetherness. The top half is ablaze in warm tones like red, orange, and yellow, representing the Olympic flame, which burns bright with passion, perseverance, and peace.
What makes Zeus special is that he isn’t just for show. He stands for something: a community that supports each other, celebrates its young people, and looks to a better future.
Why Zeus Lives at The Big Phone Store
So why is Zeus now chilling at The Big Phone Store? Because, like the wolf himself, we’re all about community, sustainability, and doing our part.
At The Big Phone Store, we refurbish and resell phones, giving tech a second life and reducing waste. It’s our way of protecting the planet, one phone at a time. Hosting Zeus fits perfectly with our mission. Just like this wolf represents young people coming together to create something beautiful, we’re working together with our community to build a more sustainable future.
Having Zeus at our shop is a way of saying: we care. We care about art, about people, about the environment… and we think you do too.

More Than Just a Shop: Visit Our Retro Phone Museum!
Coming to see Zeus? You’re in for a treat. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out our Retro Phone Museum. It’s a quirky little collection that takes you back through the history of mobile tech. From classic Nokias and clunky flip phones to the early smartphones that changed everything.
It’s fun, it’s nostalgic, and it’s completely free to explore. Kids love it. Grown-ups get a kick out of seeing their first ever mobile again. And it’s the perfect backdrop for a few selfies!

Why These Wolves Matter
Art trails like Wolves in Wolves aren’t just about brightening up a city. They’re about bringing people together, raising money for those in need, and reminding us that we can all play a role in shaping a better future.
Each wolf sold at auction helped a local charity. Each artist and student who got involved learned about teamwork, creativity, and giving back. And each visitor who followed the trail saw Wolverhampton in a whole new light.
By having Zeus guard our store, we’re proud to continue that message. We believe in supporting local causes. We believe in making art accessible. And we believe that sustainable choices, like repairing your phone instead of tossing it, can really make a difference.
