You can download and install apps on your smartwatch on Android Wear.

You can download apps on your smartwatch thanks to Android Wear. You can install apps that can allow your watch to do things such as; fitness tracking, give you weather updates and to listen to music on your watch. Android Wear is pretty similar to Android on your smartphone, downloading apps onto your smartwatch is just as easy as doing it on your phone.

You can download a wide variety of different apps onto your smartwatch, thanks to Google Play Store, apps have been specifically made for your smartwatch with functionality in mind.

Make sure you have an internet connection before trying as you will need to download apps over a Wi-Fi/LTE connection. All you have to do is:

  1. Wake up your smartwatch
  2. Go to your apps list by pressing the power button
  3. Find and tap Play Store

To search for an app you need to click on the search button (magnifying glass)

  • To type your search, press the keyboard icon
  • To speak your search, press the microphone icon

To download and install the app, tap install on the app.

If you want to download apps that are compatible and already on your smartphone you’ll have to get them onto your smartwatch manually, as Android Wear doesn’t automatically sync apps from your smartphone onto your smartwatch. Follow the steps below on how to get apps from your phone onto your watch.

  1. Wake up your smartwatch
  2. Go to your apps list by pressing the power button
  3. Find and tap Play Store
  4. Scroll down until you find ‘Apps on your phone’ section
  5. Tap install on the apps you want and it will download
